Ask a US vendor what an auto dialer is and you will hear about cloud trunks, voicemail drops and agents wearing headsets in a contact centre. Ask a real estate channel partner in Pune or an admissions head in Kota and you will hear something simpler: an app on the telecaller's phone that dials one lead after another, so nobody copies numbers out of Excel or WhatsApp any more.
Both are auto dialers. The word is an umbrella for any software that places calls for you. Strictly speaking, what most Indian SIM apps do is power or progressive dialing: one call at a time, and the next number dials as soon as the previous call ends. We explain the differences in our power vs predictive dialer guide.
The same umbrella also covers voice broadcast, where pre-recorded messages go out to a list. That is a different product with very different rules in India, and CRM Dialer is not built for it.
